Limo Vehicle Size Calculator

Advertised passenger capacity is a legal maximum, not a comfortable one. A vehicle listed at 10 passengers seats about 7 people comfortably, and about 5 once everyone is in formalwear. This calculator applies the adjustments that matter and returns a class that will actually work.

The reasoning behind each adjustment is in how many people actually fit in a limo, and full specifications for each class are in vehicle types and capacity.

How the adjustment works

The calculator starts from your headcount and adds an allowance for each factor that consumes cabin space: formalwear takes roughly the floor area of an extra passenger each, long trips need more personal space than short hops, and every three large suitcases displaces about one seat in vehicles without dedicated luggage bays. It then selects the smallest class whose listed capacity covers the adjusted number.

When two vehicles beat one

Above about 14 passengers you have a choice between one large vehicle and two smaller ones. One vehicle keeps the group together and is usually cheaper per person. Two vehicles win when pickups are at different addresses, because a single bus collecting six people from six houses burns the first billable hour driving in circles, or when people need to leave at different times.
